This Harley-Davidson Model J is said to have undergone a refurbishment during prior ownership that included repainting the bodywork and frame in green and rebuilding the 989cc F-head V-twin. Additional equipment includes a hand-shifted three-speed transmission, a tool canister, a springer fork, a headlight, a taillight, a Klaxon horn, a hinged rear fender, and a two-into-one exhaust system. The bike was acquired out of Hungary in 2022 by the selling dealer, who subsequently commissioned a rebuild of the carburetor. This Model J is now offered in Austria on a bill of sale.
The bike is finished in olive green with red and gold accents and features a matching rigid frame. Equipment includes a headlight, a taillight, rider footboards, a rear stand, a Klaxon horn, a cylindrical tool canister, a hinged rear fender, and a Mesinger solo saddle upholstered in brown leather. The fuel tank assembly features two separate fuel compartments, one oil compartment, and cutouts for the exposed rockers.
Wire-spoke wheels feature black 18″ rims at both ends. Suspension is provided by a springer fork as well as an internal frame spring for the seat. Braking is from a single drum at the rear only.
The black handlebar is equipped with a twist-grip throttle on the right and a twist-grip ignition timing control on the left. No instrumentation is present, though the selling dealer estimates having ridden approximately 30 miles. True mileage is unknown.
The 989cc F-head V-twin was rated at 9 horsepower when new and features an intake-over-exhaust (IOE) design as well as a single carburetor, a kick starter and a two-into-one exhaust system. The carburetor is said to have been rebuilt in 2022.
The number 31-5555 is stamped on the left-side engine case.
Power is sent to the rear wheel through a hand-shifted three-speed transmission with a rocker foot clutch on the left as well as a drive chain.
The bike does not have a title or registration. It is being sold on a bill of sale only.
