Margot Robbie ‘didn’t know what s*xual harassment was’ until reading ‘shocking’ Bombshell script

Margot Robbie has admitted she didn’t fully understand the meaning of s*xual harassment until reading the script for her new movie Bombshell.

The Oscar-nominated actress stars alongside Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron in Jay Roach’s drama Bombshell, which is based on real-life accounts of s*xual harassment from women working at Fox News.

But, despite the #MeToo movement gathering momentum in 2017, Margot says she was unaware of what it truly meant to be s*xually harassed.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, the Australian actress explained: ‘One of the lines that shocked me when I first read the script was that s*xual harassment includes any unwelcome sexual advances.

‘I didn’t know what s*xual harassment was.’

Margot, 29, thought that ‘physical contact’ was required for s*xual harassment to be ‘considered illegal or wrong’.

‘That really shocked me,’ she admitted.

Bombshell will tell the story of how Fox News boss Roger Ailes was accused of s*xual harassment and the women who brought down the infamous man who created the network.

Charlize, 44, has transformed into the real-life Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly while Nicole, 52, takes on the role of Gretchen Carlson. Margot stars as the fictional character Kayla Pospisil.

The film also stars John Lithgow, Kate McKinnon, Connie Britton, Mark Duplass, Rob Delaney, Malcolm McDowell and Allison Janney.

Ailes was Chairman and CEO of Fox News and Fox Television Stations, before unceremoniously resigning following allegations of s*xual harassment made against him.

Charlize has received praise for her lead performance as Megyn Kelly and is hotly-tipped to receive a best actress Oscar nomination when they are announced by the Academy tomorrow.

Margot has just received a best supporting actress Bafta nomination for her performance as Kayla but, controversially, she was nominated in the same category twice, also for Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood.
