Manchester City will reportedly lift the Premier League trophy on Sunday if they confirm the title.

Pep Guardiola’s side are on the brink of lifting a fifth Premier League title in six years after they put one hand on the trophy last Sunday.

City made light work of relegation-threatened Everton to cruise to a 3-0 win at Goodison Park before Arsenal were beaten 3-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion at home just hours later – putting City just one win away from becoming English champions for a ninth time in their history.

After weeks of chasing the Gunners, City have leapfrogged Mikel Arteta’s side and now face a straightforward task to seal the league after moving four points clear and having played a game less.

The Citizens host Chelsea on Sunday after their crunch Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid – with victory putting them on the brink of a treble winning season.

If City beat 11th placed Chelsea at the weekend they will be confirmed as champions and be handed the title with it being their final game at the Etihad this season

However, Guardiola’s side may already be champions before they even kick a ball if Arsenal lose away to Nottingham Forest on Saturday night.

City have steamrolled their way onto the verge of another league title following 11 straight Premier League wins, whilst Arsenal have won just twice in their last seven games.

If Chelsea cause an upset at the Etihad on Sunday and stop Guardiola’s men from being confirmed as champions, then the title will be awarded on the final day of the season.

City still have to travel to Brighton to play their game in hand and back-to-back defeat could see the league come down to the final day if the neutrals get their wish.

The Citizens travel to Brentford on the final day whilst Arsenal play at home against Wolves in their last game of the season.
