Midfielder Antony (MU) was criticized by fans on social media after his opponent’s “bad play” situations in the match against Brighton on the morning of May 5.
On the morning of 5/5, MU had to receive a 0-1 defeat against Brighton with a goal in the last minutes of injury time. Not only receiving the defeat, the MU player, but especially midfielder Antony, also left a bad image in the match on the AMEX field.
Specifically, Antony had a rough ball from behind that hurt Mac Allister. After that, the Brazilian player was also involved in a controversial situation and almost had a fight with defender Lewis Dunk of the home team.
Referee Andre Marriner decided to give Antony a yellow card for a collision with Lewis Dunk, ignoring the Brazilian player’s error with Mac Allister earlier. This has angered neutral fans. Many people believe that, with the act of kicking Mac Allister in the foot, the MU star deserves to be disqualified immediately.
On Sky Sports Premier League’s Twitter account, a fan commented: “100% red card. Antony deserved to be sent off right then after acting with his body language.” Another fan wrote: “I immediately thought of the red card.” The third agreed: “Had to show him a red card for kicking and reacting afterwards.”
With strong reactions from the fans, it is not clear whether Antony has to receive a “cold penalty” from the Premier League BTC or not.
In the next match, MU will have a trip to West Ham’s field on the morning of May 8.
