In the hot and arid climate of the Namib Desert, an Oryx antelope became the target of two hungry lions. With food and water scarce, hunting is crucial for the survival of the lions in this harsh environment.
However, when the lion caught the antelope, it received a surprisingly fierce reaction from its prey. The antelope fought back with great ferocity, causing the lion to eventually surrender to the victim’s will to survive and allow the antelope to escape.
The Namib is one of the harshest and driest coastal deserts in South Africa and is nearly uninhabited. During the day, temperatures here can reach up to 45 degrees Celsius, while at night the temperature drops to freezing levels.
Since the mid-1980s, thousands of lions have disappeared due to the harsh environmental conditions, although the number of lions surviving in the world’s driest and warmest places has recently increased. It remains a challenge even for the kings of the animal kingdom.
