Down 2-0 in their first-round series against the Sacramento Kings and without the suspended Draymond Green, the Golden State Warriors were in some trouble heading into Game 3.
As he has done so many times over the years, though, Stephen Curry came to their rescue with another incredible performance and Green was full of praise for his teammate on his podcast.
“We saw NBA Finals Steph Curry, which was absolutely incredible,” Green said. “Controlled the entire game. It was just like a calmness, ‘I’m not letting us lose, I’m in this moment, it is what it is and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.’ Masterful. What we watched Steph Curry do last night was just a master at work. There’s not many guys that can control a game like that. You’re talking Steph Curry, LeBron James, Luka (Doncic), that really controls the entire pace of the game, everything that happens.”
Green went on to thank Curry for saving him once again as he had put the team in a rough spot with his suspension. Steph finished with a game-high 36 points to go with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and a block as the Warriors won 113-97. He ensured the Kings never really got close in the second half as Golden State got a much-needed win.
Draymond Green Spoke About His One-Game Suspension
This latest podcast episode also gave Green the chance to address his suspension for the first time. He made it clear he didn’t agree with it, stating that he didn’t know his actions from seven years back was a factor here, in reference to the suspension from the NBA being in part because of his history of unsportsmanlike conduct.
He also stated that his reaction toward the crowd was because they were flipping him off and had been chanting that he sucks for the whole game and he didn’t think it would factor into his suspension. Whatever the case, that is in the past now and Green now needs to focus on helping his team level up the series.
