‘This girl is obsessed!’ Selena Gomez fans mercilessly roast Hailey Bieber over the launch of her new cooking show – accusing her of ‘copying’ the singer with her ‘rip-off’ series

Hailey Bieber is getting roasted by Selena Gomez fans after launching her new cooking show — nearly three years after the singer debuted her own culinary series.

The Rhode founder, 26, has long faced accusations of ‘copying’ the Only Murders in the Building star, 30, and the scrutiny only increased this week when she released the first official episode of What’s in My Kitchen? on her YouTube channel.

Critics were quick to make comparisons to Gomez’s HBO Max cooking series, Selena + Chef, which premiered in August 2020, calling Bieber’s latest project a ‘rip-off.’

‘Hailey really needs to stop copying Selena and she should focus on herself,’ one person tweeted, while another added, ‘She wants to be left alone but copies Selena constantly.’

However, in a statement shared with the Hollywood Reporter, Bieber called What’s in My Kitchen? a ‘natural spin-off’ to her Who’s in My Bathroom series, which has featured Kendall Jenner, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Emily Ratajkowski as guests.

The first of six episodes was released on Wednesday and shows her making her ‘signature chicken wing recipe’ inside the home she shares with her husband, Justin Bieber.

Other recipes will include her home version of her $17 ‘Strawberry Glaze’ Erewhon smoothie and pizza toast. The skincare guru collaborated with OBB Media to create the series, with HexClad sponsoring the project.

One Twitter user snidely posted that ‘HBO MAX didn’t want her,’ while others claimed Bieber was giving off ‘single white female’ vibes with the show.

‘This gurl is obsessed with Selena,’ someone else insisted. ‘Look now a remake of Selena + Chef Cook Show.’

‘Next, she’ll announce a murder mystery comedy show co-starring Tim Allen and Jerry Seinfeld,’ another joked, referring to Gomez’s Hulu series Only Murders in the Building.

‘Actual title — “What’s in my kitchen that I copied from Selena to be relevant,”‘ one critic chimed in.

Even fans of Bieber were skeptical about the optics of the show considering the ongoing accusations that she copies everything her husband’s ex girlfriend does.

‘Ok I didn’t even care about this beef she has with Selena but even I have to admit this is kinda weird,’ one person tweeted.

‘Okay I love Hailey, but this is such a bad move. She’ll get dragged a lot,’ someone else noted.

Bieber started her YouTube channel in 2021 and now has more than two million subscribers. She has been facing backlash over her cooking segments since she soft-launched What’s in My Kitchen back in December 2022.

‘This is a show inspired by my love of food and trying out different recipes,’ she explained in the description. ‘You’ve seen me make pizza toast, creamy Tuscan pasta, smoothies, and more — and I’m excited to take now you all even deeper into my actual home kitchen to recreate some of these classics and go on many more fun food adventures!’

One Twitter user shared a video of Gomez’s introduction to Selena + Chef followed by footage of Bieber’s first What’s in My Kitchen segment from last year.

‘This is my real home. Everything that we’re doing is at home. This is my amazing kitchen, which is the set,’ Gomez told viewers.

‘Yes, we actually are in my real kitchen, in my real house. This is not a set. This is where I really live,’ Bieber explained in her series.

‘Naaahhhh Selena needs to sue,’ the person captioned the compilation clip. ‘That’s crazy.’

However, Bieber’s not the only celebrity to follow in Gomez’s culinary footsteps after she started filming her show during the pandemic.

In 2021, Brooklyn Beckham and Paris Hilton launched their own respective cooking shows, Cookin’ With Brooklyn and Cooking with Paris.

Fans have been pitting Gomez and Bieber against each other for years, and the latest attack on the model comes just weeks after they squashed rumors of their so-called feud.

In late March, Gomez took to Instagram Stories to urge people to stop trolling and bullying Bieber, who had been receiving death threats.

‘Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity,’ she wrote. ‘This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.’

Bieber thanked Gomez for ‘speaking out‘ on her own Instagram Stories, sharing that they had been discussing how to ‘move past this ongoing narrative’ between them once and for all.

‘The last few weeks have been very hard for everyone involved and millions of people are seeing so much hate around this which is extremely harmful. While social media is an incredible way to connect and build community, moments like this only create extreme division instead of bringing people together,’ she continued.

‘Things can be taken out of context or construed differently than they were intended. We all need to be more thoughtful about what we post and what we say, including myself.

‘In the end I believe love will always be bigger than hate and negativity and there is always an opportunity to meet each other with more empathy or compassion.’

Bieber and Gomez also started following each other on Instagram to drive home their goodwill.
