Kylian Mbappe’s mother has shed light on the France captain’s recent public spat with PSG.
WHAT HAPPENED? Mbappe publicly criticised PSG after they released a video promoting season ticket sales for the 2023-24 season, which was dominated by the 24-year-old and featured few of his fellow stars. “I don’t agree with this published video… PSG is a big club and a big family but it is especially not Kylian Saint-Germain,” he wrote in a social media post.
Mbappe hit out on social media after the club released a promotional video advertising season tickets whilst almost exclusively featuring the 24-year-old forward.
The public rift led many to speculate that the former Monaco star could be on his way out of the Parc des Princes, but Mbappe has since reaffirmed his desire to secure a first-ever Champions League title for the Parisian club.
In an interview with French broadcaster Public Senat per AS, Fayza Lamari defended her son’s actions but revealed that she had warned him not to go public with announcing his discontent with the club.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: The feud between Mbappe and PSG sparked further uncertainty about the France international’s future. Despite signing a new contract last year, Mbappe continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid. However, since airing his grievances, he has insisted that he wants to stay at the club, saying: “Where [do I want to win the Champions League]? In Paris. I’m a Parisian and under contract. So it’s PSG.”
‘Kylian spoke from his heart in the heat of the moment, he was angry. He reacted like a kid who was born in the social media age. Everyone has their own way of communicating.

‘And he replied: “No, I don’t want to wait. I know what the consequences are and I will accept them.”‘
Superstar teammates Lionel Messi and Neymar were entirely absent from the promotional video, with Mbappe stating that he was not informed of how the material would be used by the club.
‘I have just taken part in the viewing of the club’s renewal campaign for the 23/24 season,’ he wrote on his Instagram.
‘At no time was I informed of the content of the interview with my interlocutor. It looked like a basic interview at a club marketing day. I disagree with this posted video.
