Aubrey Plaza and Chris Pratt gave us a sitcom romance for the ages when they played April Ludgate and Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation.
While both have gone on to work on some major projects – Emily the Criminal and White Lotus for Plaza and Guardians of the Galaxy and Super Mario Bros for Pratt – they’ll always be April and Andy to a whole generation of fans.
And after Chris tied the knot with Katherine Schwarznegger in 2019, Aubrey suggested that her former co-star would be a fantastic husband.
She noted that, because Chris Pratt’s real-life personality was very similar to his character Andy’s, he’d likely be just as great a husband as Andy was on the show.
“Well, I mean, Andy Dwyer was the best husband that anyone could ask for,” Aubrey told People.
“I think Chris Pratt… I think there’s a lot of similarities between Andy and Chris Pratt just as there are with me and April Ludgate.
“So, my bet is that he’s gonna be the most fun husband ever, and I think that girl is a lucky, lucky, lucky gal. Yeah, it’s a jackpot.”
In an earlier interview with Playboy, she raved that even though Pratt had gotten ‘ripped beyond belief’ for his Marvel role, he was still ‘the same old lovable golden retriever of a man I had to hug and touch and kiss a lot.’
Plaza and Pratt’s characters April and Andy were a match made in heaven on Parks and Recreation, eventually tying the knot in season three.
The pair were living proof of ‘opposites attract’, with April’s pessimistic, dark humoured, gothic personality bouncing off of Andy’s excitable, dorky, child-like character.
April and Andy were the show’s strongest couple after Amy Poehler and Adam Scott’s Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt.
Chris recently spoke about meeting his wife Katherine Schwarznegger for the first time, admitting he was ‘really broken’ when they first got to know each other.
Speaking to Drew Barrymore ahead of the release of the Super Mario Bros Movie, he shared: “I met Katherine – now it’s been five, six years ago.
“God has a fast-forward button, you know. When it’s right – boom – you’re hit. You fall in love, you get married.”
He continued: “Now we have two beautiful daughters to add to my family, and it feels really great.
“There was a moment in my life that I was really struggling and felt really broken.
“For me, [it was] my own journey finding a higher power and leaning on that and feeling like, ‘Please save me,’ and feeling saved.
“And then shortly later, [I met] the woman of my dreams.
“It’s all about timing. There’s a perfect plan out there for you. And I think you have to have faith. The minute you have faith, it falls into place.”
