When it comes to giving birth, there’s no “right” or “wrong” plan. Some women opt for home births, some choose hospitals, and others want a water birth. While some experts believe ᴅᴇʟɪᴠᴇʀɪɴɢ in a tub of water can lower sᴛʀᴇss, reduce ᴘᴀɪɴ, and prevent tearing, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists cautions that this practice is perhaps best for the first stage of labor, since the effects of a water birth when it comes time to push and ᴅᴇʟɪᴠᴇʀ haven’t been fully studied.
