Chelsea are in advanced talks with PSV over a deal for Noni Madueke worth around £35million, football.london understands.
The Blues opened talks for the signing of the 20-year-old last week, but PSV were adamant they were not going to sell Madueke. However, there has been a breakthrough and Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal with a package worth around €40million (£35million) for the former Tottenham youngster’s signature.
A source has told football.london that talks intensified on Thursday afternoon and now a deal is close to being struck for the winger. Madueke is set to become Chelsea’s sixth signing of the January transfer window following the announcement of Mykhailo Mudryk at the weekend.
Mudryk is the latest signing, following the arrivals of David Datro Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos and Joao Felix in the couple of weeks before. Now, Madueke looks set to join them at Stamford Bridge in the next few days.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are still interested in signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton. The Blues are looking to add a top-class central midfielder to their ranks this month but the Seagulls are determined to keep hold of the Ecuadorian.
Leandro Trossard to Arsenal now looks like a done deal, so Brighton may be reluctant to lose two of their star players in the same window – particularly the mid-season one. However, Chelsea will continue with their pursuit of Caicedo while scouting out other targets for the centre of midfield.
