Ten Hag was asked about Man Utd legend Cristiano Ronaldo joining Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
Ronaldo has been involved in multiple PR disasters in the last six months
Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag had no interest in discussing Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
Having held out for a transfer to a Champions League club, Ronaldo conceded defeat in his quest to continue playing high-level football by signing a two-and-a-half year contract with Al Nassr, the only club to make an offer for Ronaldo in the summer.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes was unable to persuade Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Napoli or AC Milan to bid for the 37-year-old, who scored three goals in 16 games for United this season.
Ten Hag disciplined Ronaldo for leaving early after playing the first-half of a friendly with Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford in July and refusing to come on in the 2-0 win over Tottenham in October.
Ronaldo secured a divorce from United by arranging an unauthorised chat with Talk TV where he said he had “no respect” for Ten Hag. United have won all three matches since Ronaldo left the club on November 22.
“I don’t talk about the past, let’s talk about the future,” Ten Hag said after the 1-0 victory over Wolves. “We made a good step today.
“We have to win games, it’s the first time we are in the top four but it means nothing because there is a long way to go, many games are coming up, we have to live from game to game, we have to win every game.
“So collect the three points, get in a position and you can win something this season. That is what we are aiming for but it demands hard work from everyone and, of course, a good plan.”
