Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani expressed that she is sceptical about Harry Styles, who briefly appeared in the mid-credits scene of Eternals, returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In an interview with AP Entertainment, Vellani stated, “I feel so weird about it! I don’t know. It’s strange. I wonder, I really wonder if they’re gonna go ahead and do something with the character, or if they just teased it for the sake of it,” she said. “Because I know Chloe Zhao is a big Harry Styles fan. But then you have all of the Harry Styles fandom in the MCU fandom, how chaotic would that be?”
While the global superstar made a surprise appearance as Starfox, also known as Eros, at the end of Eternals, Styles himself has even joked that he may never return to the MCU. “It’d be funny if that was it, wouldn’t it?” he stated in an interview. However, MCU boss Kevin Feige assured fans that they’d be seeing more of Starfox in the future. “The adventures of Eros and Pip is something that is very exciting for us,” he said. The producer did not specify when we would see the character again, however.
Will There Be an Eternals 2?
It is possible that Styles would reprise the role in Eternals 2, a project which, despite rumors, has not yet been officially confirmed by Marvel. In Aug. 2022 Patton Oswalt, who played Starfox’s sidekick Pip the Troll in the film, seemed confident that an Eternals sequel was in the works. “They have announced there’s going to be an Eternals sequel,” Oswalt said. “Chloé Zhao is going to direct it. So, hopefully there will be more adventures of Starfox and Pip.” However, Kumail Nanjiani, who played Kingo in the movie, believes Oswalt was deceived by a parody website, and remains unsure whether Eternals 2 will happen.
Similar to Eternals 2, Marvel has also not yet confirmed whether they have greenlit Ms. Marvel Season 2. Vellani, Season 1’s breakout star, stated Marvel doesn’t tell her anything in Sept. 2022, but desperately wanted to start a petition to bring back the show. Vellani does still have a future in the MCU, however, as she will be a central character in The Marvels, which is set to hit theaters July 28, 2023.
Eternals and Ms. Marvel Season 1 are available to stream on Disney+.
