Dwayne Johnson has been a hot topic of discussion ever since his DC movie Black Adam was released. The much-hyped superhero film was expected to be a new beginning for the DC Universe. Instead, it marked the end of the previous regime.
New DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran put the plans for DJ’s Black Adam sequel on the shelf as they aim to start from scratch. But The Rock’s fans may soon get to see him reprise a superhero role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
DC studios may be done with The Brahma Bull for the time being, but the decision-makers at Marvel are apparently interested in bringing The Rock to the MCU! After his sour experience with DC, the former WWE Champion may also consider moving to DC’s major rival.
LOS ANGELES, CA – JULY 20: Dwayne Johnson is seen at “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on July 20, 2022 in Los Angeles, California.
The Rock promised Black Adam would change the hierarchy of the DC Universe. However, the studios and The People’s Champion were given a reality check. The film did well but it was not a great business at the box office. Then Warner Bros. executives claimed that Dwayne Johnson leaked wrong information about the Black Adam profits.
Things turned further sour after DJ claimed the studio didn’t want to bring Henry Cavill and his Superman back, but he pushed for his return.
Then, after James Gunn and Peter Safran announced their plans to wipe the DC slate clean, The Rock shared a message on his Twitter indicating that he may be done with the franchise at least for now. But now, according to a report in Giant Freakin Robot, The People’s Champion is in advanced talks with the Marvel Studios to join their universe.
After falling out of favor at DC Studios, the chance to work with one of the most successful franchises of the last decade will be appealing to DJ. Despite the Black Adam fiasco, he is still a huge name at the box office. He can revive his superhero career within the well-established MCU. Unlike DC movies, Marvel films have been more streamlined within their cinematic universe.
Moreover, in 2013, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said he would love to work with The Rock for an MCU movie. The actor responded and even dropped a suggestion as to which Marvel superhero he would play.
