Ex-Liverpool Fernando Torres turned to model with a huge salary

Fernando Torres has filled in his spare time in the football off-season by turning his hand to modelling.

The former Liverpool star has put pen to paper on a collaboration with Dutch fashion label BALR, becoming an official ambassador of the brand and fronting a bespoke collection of clothing.

The Spain striker, often referred to as ‘El Nino’ because of his youthful features, has now starred in a series of promotional campaigns for the label and has his own designated section on their official website.

Taking to his social media profile on Instagram to announce the news, Torres uploaded a shot of himself wearing the clothing for his 4.9million followers to see.

Captioning the image in both English and Spanish, Torres wrote: ‘I’m excited to announce my collab with BALR and proud to be part of the team!’

Likewise the brand themselves also took to social media, keen to announce the recruitment of the Atletico Madrid legend.

‘We are proud to announce a new member of the team, Fernando Torres ~ El Niño,’ the brand wrote.

Former pro player Demy de Zeeuw created the brand with Elijero Elia and Gregory van der Wiel

The BALR label itself originates from football beginnings, and was created with the ethos of making the lifestyle of a footballer more accessible to all.

Former professional player Demy de Zeeuw, who played for both AZ Alkmaar and Ajax during his career, began the label with his friends and fellow footballers Elijero Elia and Gregory van der Wiel.

The trio then presented their concept to internet entrepreneurs Ralph de Geus and Juul Manders and thus the BALR brand was born.

Plenty of elite players have been seen wearing the brand before, including Angel Di Maria, Isco and Hector Bellerin, though Torres is one of the few who have been officially announced as a face of the label.
