Zendaya’s Euphoria Co-Star Jacob Elordi Reportedly Rejected $2.5B DCU Franchise Despite Fan Campaign

DC fans have been busy speculating who would be the next actor to don the cape in James Gunn’s upcoming film, Superman: Legacy. Young faces of Hollywood like Jacob Elordi, David Corenswat, and many others have joined the list to potentially lead the upcoming film. Although the filmmaker denied any claims regarding the Euphoria star being one of the contenders to be the next Superman, fans have continued to support him.

Superman: Legacy

However, new reports have claimed that Elordi is no longer interested in portraying the DC superhero, as the Pearl actor allegedly becomes the frontrunner for Superman: Legacy.

Jacob Elordi Reportedly Not Interested in Superman: Legacy

Henry Cavill played the DC superhero, Superman, since Zack Snyder’s 2013 film Man of Steel and was last seen in the 2022 film Black Adam. While he was expected to make a comeback after the 2022 film, it was canceled after James Gunn took over as the co-CEO of DC Studios.

Followed by his DC departure, many names, along with Jacob Elordi, became fans’ choice to be the next Superman. They have been supporting his fan casting for Superman: Legacy, but new reports suggest that The Kissing Booth star is not interested in taking over the role.

The Hollywood Reporter recently released the names of the actors who are reportedly considered for the role of Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor. While Elordi was among some of the top contenders to take over the part of the Kryptonian superhero, but sources claimed that he “never submitted himself into the ring.”

Apart from Elordi, David Corenswat, Tom Brittney, and Andrew Richardson are also among the potential actors to lead the first DCU film. Nicholas Hoult was allegedly also considered for the role of the Kryptonian superhero, but new reports suggest that he is being looked on for the role of Lex Luthor.

James Gunn Denied Jacob Elordi Cast Rumors

Earlier in January, rumors surrounding the Superman: Legacy casting took over Twitter. Among multiple fan castings, Jacob Elordi was also speculated to be the next Superman. However, the Peacemaker director denied the claim as he responded to a Twitter thread speculating the same.

James Gunn

He said, “My thoughts are no one has been cast as Superman yet.” Gunn also shared that he is not planning to cast anyone in the film until the script is completed. He said that fans would soon get updates regarding the film, but the casting of Superman would not be one of them.

James Gunn again took to Twitter in response to the recent speculation and shared that so far, only one person has been cast in Superman: Legacy. However, he did not reveal the name of the actor or character that had already been cast.
