Patrick Mahomes is just a class apart. Whatever he does is unique and eye-catching, something his fans usually try to imbibe in their own lifestyles. While the internet detectives dug deep into his likes and dislikes, the quarterback’s compassion for tomato ketchup came to the forefront. He has been endorsing various brands in this domain, and ketchup has a special place in his heart because it has always been his personal favorite. However, weirdly enough, his ketchup obsession ultimately brought him even closer to $2 Billion rich Clark Hunt, the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, the team that Mahomes leads as a QB.
The 27-year-old gunslinger recalled his love for ketchup in his personal biography, wherein he called it a main course. He used to eat bread sandwiches with plain ketchup in between. Even after so many years, the quarterback follows this trend, and if somebody asks him a favorite cuisine, without a second thought he would name a random ketchup brand.
Patrick Mahomes describes the origin of his love for ketchup
The Chiefs’ poster boy follows a strict diet plan to maintain his shape and mobility. He needs to stay fit and perform at the highest levels. Despite a strict routine, the passer can’t help but include ketchup in his entire meal. While speaking in an interview, Mahomes explained his ketchup and bread story.
“It was a long time ago, but when I was a little kid, I used to just eat ketchup sandwiches that were just ketchup and bread,” Mahomes said, per the Sporting News. “I used to get teased about it all the time because people thought it was very strange that I didn’t put any ham, turkey, or anything else on it, just ketchup and bread. I grew out of it, so, I don’t do that anymore,” he added.
He has been quite vocal about this for a long-time. Gradually, it paved the way for Hunt’s ketchup brand to approach him as a brand ambassador and have him appear in the endorsement campaign. Even before he signed a partnership deal, the gunslinger was vocal about the thickness and rich flavor of Hunt’s products.

Hence, Patrick became an obvious choice to represent the brand. To date, he probably enjoys a bunch of free bottles from them every year. As it turns out, Chiefs owner Clarke Hunt, who is a Ketchup aficionado himself, develop a soft corner for his quarterback when the star athlete chose to advertise Hunt’s ketchup instead of Heinz when he had the choice.
To avoid any confusion, one must understand that Clark Hunt does not own Hunt’s Ketchup. The company is owned by Conagra Brands. However, maybe because Clark’s last name is Hunt, he was happy with the fact that his QB chose that company over Heinz. Moreover, Heinz serves as a major sponsor for the Pittsburgh Steelers. So things might have gone awry if Patrick would have chosen them over Hunt’s. Thankfully, it all turned out well for both parties.
Mahomes has a nutrition-filled diet five times a day
The two-time Super Bowl champion has come a long way to achieve the success he enjoys today. His fitness and diet played a pivotal role in these milestones. During an interaction with Stylecaster.com, the signal-caller stressed his disciplined approach, revealing that he takes five meals a day.
“I usually eat four to five meals a day. I eat breakfast, then lunch, and then spread out my dinners to make sure I’m not eating too much at any one time,” he said. Indeed, the plan has been working quite well for him. No matter how many restrictions his fitness coach imposes on him, the signal-caller won’t refrain from expressing his love for ketchup.
