Dwight Yorke has insisted Erling Haaland wouldn’t get in Manchester United‘s treble winning side from the 1998-99 season.
Haaland has broken the record for the most goals scored in a single Premier League season already, and is helping Manchester City compete for their own treble this term.
The United team from almost 25 years ago won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League – the three trophies City are chasing – and are one of the most famous and successful sides from recent history.
Haaland has scored more goals this season than then-United strikers Yorke and Andy Cole, but Yorke, speaking to King Casino Bonus, insisted he wouldn’t be a starter for that United team.
‘Erling Haaland wouldn’t get into the team with the way we played, no chance,’ he said. ‘Why would you want to disrupt the link-up play me and Andy Cole had?’

The United side Yorke played in are one of the most successful English sides ever
Yorke scored 29 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions during the season, with 18 goals coming in the league.
Cole, meanwhile, netted 24 times in 50 appearances – 17 times in the league – and the duo formed one of the most successful partnerships in Premier League history that year.
Yorke also questioned suggestions that the club has made progress under Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils have improved on their league position this season following the dismal ending to the last campaign, but are sweating on their place in the top four following back-to-back defeats against Brighton and West Ham.
Ten Hag’s side won the League Cup and are in the FA Cup final but have not been able to mount a title challenge this season having lost nine times in the league.
Speaking via King Casino Bonus, he said: ‘Erik ten Hag losing nine games in the Premier League does raise some issues.

Ten Hag’s side won the Carabao Cup and are in the final of the FA Cup but are facing pressure from Liverpool in the race to finish inside the top four
‘Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had a better record than Ten Hag in his full two seasons managing the club, people talk about the progress we’ve made and the better style of football being played.
‘Manchester United have reached the FA Cup final, won the Carabao Cup and made it far in the Europa League so that is progress, but Ten Hag losing more Premier League games than Solskjaer in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons has to be called out.
‘The results have not been good enough this season. Manchester United are looking over their shoulder and are desperately trying to hold onto fourth place, I’m not sure that’s where the club wants to be.
‘Ten Hag gets the praise when the team is playing well, he has to take the criticism when it goes wrong too.’
