Channel Nine showbiz reporter Richard Wilkins has relived a cringeworthy moment with famed actor Keanu Reeves.

Wilkins, 68, shared a throwback video of the embarrassing 2021 interview as part of Dickie’s Diaries on 9Honey.

The Hollywood superstar can be seen shutting down the veteran reporter, after Wilkins admitted he did not understand the plot of The Matrix Resurrections, which Reeves, 58, starred in.

Dickie’s Diaries revisits Wilkins’ archive of celebrity interviews from his 35-year career at Nine.

Reflecting on the 2021 incident with Keanu, Wilkins said he thought he may have offended the actor with a question about the plot of Matrix Resurrections.

In the original interview Wilkins can be seen asking Reeves: ‘Was there ever a time when you were reading the script and talking it through and you went, ”ok, so what’s going on here now?”.’

Reeves at first appears to be puzzled by Wilkins question, before answering: ‘In terms of the plot and what was going on, that was really clear to me.’

Wilkins now says in Dickie’s Diaries that ‘maybe he didn’t offend’ Reeves, because he only recently interviewed the fan favourite for John Wick 4.

Wilkins launched Dickie’s Diaries last week exclusively on the digital platform 9Honey.

It comes after sources indicated last year Wilkins would be reducing his on-screen time on Today, after taking on the title of Network Entertainment Editor.

The first episode of Dickie’s Diaries featured his 2003 sit-down with pop star Prince.

Other episodes culled from Wilkins 35-year career with Nine features the likes of Madonna and Hugh Grant.
