Steph Curry was the star of the Warriors’ Game 7 win over the Sacramento Kings last Sunday at Golden 1 Center, but one fan nearly stole the show.
Christian Gamboa, a lifelong Warriors fan, went viral on social media for displaying unmatched passion and waving his 2017 NBA Finals “strength in numbers” towel in the middle of the third quarter of a game Golden State eventually would win.
Gamboa was in attendance Thursday night at Chase Center for the Warriors’ 127-100 Game 2 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. After the game, Steph Curry sought to find Gamboa to give him a once-in-a-lifetime gift: A pair of game-worn shoes.
“I’m speechless, man,” Gamboa told 95.7 The Game. “But thanks to all my family, man, they’re doing all my little craziness.
“I’m kind of tired, lost my voice and still kind of recuperating. But it’s been good, man. It’s a hell of [an] experience. This is like once in a lifetime. It’s nuts. I appreciate you guys and giving me the opportunity to go on there.”
The Warriors might have found their good luck charm for these 2023 NBA playoffs. Gamboa travel up Interstate-80 for the matchup against the Kings. Golden State might need him to go down I-5 to Los Angeles.
With Gamboa cheering loudly either from the arena or from home, Curry and Co. will attempt to take a 2-1 series lead with Game 3 in Los Angeles on Saturday at Crytpo.com Arena.
