The accused left the dog to suffer after cutting his legs, who later succumbed due to excessive blood loss.

The dog`s owner Ashok Meena told that the accused suspected that the dog had taken away their goat cub a few days ago, while in reality the lamb was taken by another street dog.

Ashok registered a case against 4 members of a family living in the neighbourhood at the Reni police station for killing his 2-year-old pet dog with an axe. The police have done the post mortem of the dog`s body at the Reni Veterinary Hospital.

ASI Rambhajan Meena told that Ashok son Kaluram Meena, a resident of Reni town, filed a case that his pet dog was taken away by Babu son of Midya Meena, Santosh son of Babu Meena, Sonu and Jitu son of Kripal Meena at around 7.30 am on Wednesday.

The accused cut off 3 legs of the dog with an axe and they left the dog lying there, he was tortured for about one and a half to two hours. The police have started an investigation by registering a case under the Cruelty to Animals Act.
