Jason Momoa as AquamanThe success of Aquaman took Jason Momoa by surprise
Before the introduction of DCEU’s Aquaman, the B-list DC hero was mostly ridiculed among fans for his corny looks and was treated as a joke. But following Jason Momoa‘s badass performance as the Marine Monarch in the James Wan-led film, Aquaman became one of the most beloved characters in the DCEU. However, the dominant performance of the movie at the box office, which garnered around $1.15 billion, came as a surprise to the Dune star. But the success of the movie came as a mixed bag for the actor as he expressed his concerns regarding the situation by stating,
“Well, to be perfectly honest, I was absolutely baffled that Aquaman was received so well. I’ve done things that are amazing that no one sees and no one gives a shit about. You just don’t know in this business. I don’t go do things and think, Oh, I’m gonna get $1 billion on this one. I go in and do my best job.”
But even though the enormous success of the movie cemented his name with the character of Aquaman, with fans overlooking his other projects, Momoa is still proud of the movie.
