EAGLE-EYED fans of hit TV show Succession have spotted Manchester United defender Phil Jones making a surprise cameo.
The hit-HBO drama is known for its gritty, witty, engrossing scenes between fictional media tycoon Logan Roy and his children Kendall, Siobhan, Roman and Connor.
Phil Jones has not played a single minute of football this season
Jones featured in the game shown on the TV screen in Succession
And it is during a scene of Roman’s in season two of Succession where Jones makes a surprising appearance.
Played by Kieran Culkin, Roman is sat at a bar as a football match plays on the TV in the background.
And TikTok star @noproblemgambler has now worked out what game was being shown.
He first deduced that it was from 2010 at the Allianz Stadium in Sydney.
But when he could not match it up with any Sydney FC games, he became confused.
That was when he realised it came from a pre-season friendly tournament – the Sydney Festival of Football.
The match in question was between Blackburn and Rangers – with Jones a part of Rovers’ team.
And the clip in the scene shows Rangers striker Kenny Miller scoring past Paul Robinson as Jones watches on.
It is a remarkable find given the obscurity of the game in question – with Jones joining Man Utd the following season.
And it is one of the only times in recent years that people have been able to see Jones on screen.
Injuries have meant he has racked up just five appearances for the club since the 2019/20 campaign.
