Recently, performer Holsey shared an interesting ingredient she’s added to her skin care routine. She gave an interview to Nylon magazine in which she revealed that she uses breast milk on her face to create a more youthful appearance without wrinkles, fine lines, or inflammation. The 28-year-old star gave birth to her firstborn son, Ender, in July 2021 and says her skincare routine has changed dramatically since then.
“I’ve always been careful about what I put on my skin, but when your baby is kissing you or snuggling next to you, you start to be even more careful about the ingredients you put on your face,” says Holsey. She adds that she has changed several basic steps in her routine so that she can be sure that she will not ʜᴀʀᴍ her son but at the same time will continue to protect the skin from ᴇxᴛᴇʀɴᴀʟ ᴀɢɢʀᴇssᴏʀs.
Eventually, Halsey also discovered the best ingredient in skin care, which occurs naturally in the body after giving birth. “I started breastfeeding and realized that breast milk is the best ingredient in skin care because it’s full of ᴀɴᴛɪᴏxɪᴅᴀɴᴛs and healthy fats that can boost the ʀᴇsᴛᴏʀᴀᴛɪᴠᴇ ᴀɴᴅ ʜᴇᴀʟɪɴɢ processes,” says the performer.
Studies have shown that the powerful ɪᴍᴍᴜɴᴏʟᴏɢɪᴄᴀʟ ᴘʀᴏᴘᴇʀᴛɪᴇs of breast milk are effective in the ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ of many skin ᴄᴏɴᴅɪᴛɪᴏɴs, such as ʀᴀsʜ, ᴇᴄᴢᴇᴍᴀ, ᴀɴᴅ ᴀᴄɴᴇ. According to some dermatologists, the natural ingredient can stimulate the production of healthy skin ʙᴀᴄᴛᴇʀɪᴀ to fight any bad ʙᴀᴄᴛᴇʀɪᴀ that cause skin problems.
Breast milk is also high in a type of fat called ʟᴀᴜʀɪᴄ ᴀᴄɪᴅ, which is also a component of coconut oil. That is why it is believed that it can help fight stubborn acne.
Despite the overwhelming evidence for breast milk’s skin-care properties, dermatologists say more research is needed to understand exactly how far it penetrates beneath the epidermal and ᴅᴇʀᴍᴀʟ ʙᴀʀʀɪᴇʀ.
As for Halsey, she’s definitely enjoying motherhood for more than just the potential benefits of breast milk. This is evident from the cheerful photos that the singer often shares with her followers.
