A disturbing video has recently surfaced from Addo Elephant National Park in South Africa, showing a male elephant in a state of agitation striking a young calf with its trunk.
Fortunately, another adult elephant intervened to protect the vulnerable calf from further harm.
Photographer Duncan Noakes captured the incident on film. The situation began when the infant elephant wandered too close to the irate adult, and was struck on the backside by its powerful trunk, causing it to cry out in pain.

As the baby tries to flee, it runs in front of the angry adult and is slapped on the backside once more.
In its effort to escape, the frightened calf ran past the enraged elephant, only to be struck once again. The attack ended when the calf found safety beside its mother.
The attack came to a halt when the elephant sought refuge beside its mother. Another adult elephant intervened and charged at the attacker, causing it to flee quickly and resolving the situation.
