In yet another major development in Barcelona’s pursuit of Lionel Messi, it appears the superstar’s entourage has reserved enrolment for his sons at the same school they had previously studied in Barcelona, reports Adrian Sanchez.
This is quite significant for Barcelona as it indicates Messi’s desire to return to the club and raise his children in the city. This comes after the forward had reportedly withdrawn his children’s enrollment at the school they studied in Paris.
Although he has fared vastly well in his second year in the French capital, it appears Leo Messi is very much looking forward to the idea of returning to Catalonia.
The 35-year-old already has an excellent relationship with some of the current Barcelona stars. He contacts Xavi Hernandez quite often as well and describes Barcelona as “we”.
Xavi himself is ready to welcome Messi with open arms. The Barcelona coach missed out on the opportunity to coach his former teammate, as he was appointed only a few months after Messi left for Paris Saint-Germain.
The chance of reuniting with the Argentine, this time as a coach, could indeed be an appealing factor to Xavi.
The Blaugrana are facing immense pressure to reduce €200 million from their wage budget, which could require the departure of multiple unwanted stars. Even some of the first-team stars could leave, with Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres among the candidates.
But, Barcelona are confident that La Liga will green-light their economic viability plan and allow Messi’s registration in the summer.
That, coupled with the news of Messi’s children allegedly being enrolled in a school in Barcelona, gives the fans a great deal of optimism over the 35-year-old’s potential return to the club in the summer transfer window.
