Whether you are getting your nails prepped for those all important cocktail-holding Instagram shots, or it is your regular weekly visit for a refresh, having a new set of nails can make the ultimate difference to how you look and feel.
Some prefer the classic white tips, while for others, the crazier the better.
But have you ever thought of a Voodoo doll inspired set? For one talented Hull nail technician this incredible design has catapulted her to global success.
Natasha Newton, 32, a self-employed nail artist who works from her home in east Hull, has won first place in Nailympia – the world’s biggest nail competition and bagged a job with a top nail product brand.

Natasha competed against technicians from 30 countries, but claimed the gold medal in the mixed media, division one, category for her Voodoo doll inspired set.
She said: “It felt surreal. I entered mixed media, which is art of a certain height across ten tips. I didn’t believe I would get in the top three, never mind first.

“The theme was open, so I wanted to do something different that nobody had seen, something that told a story, so I decided to do the making of a Voodoo doll.”
She has also gone on to secure further recognition for her talent, as she has been shortlisted as a finalist for the ‘Nail Artist of the Year’ and ‘Rising Star’ categories in the Hair and Beauty Awards 2022.

The talented nail artist has also featured in the world’s leading nail magazine, Scratch Magazine, several times.
The 32-year-old set up her own business, Nails by Natasha, and has worked in the industry for four years.

She specialises in acrylic nails, but is also skilled at creating 3D designs and has racked up nearly 3,000 likes on her Facebook page.
“I definitely see it more as a passion rather then a job, I take great pride in my work which has led to me having to be a perfectionist,” she said.
“I’m proud of what I’ve achieved in the short time I’ve been doing it.”

Her success in the nail world led to her becoming an ambassador for Glitterbels, a professional nail product brand with 313,000 Instagram followers, set up by Nails by Annabelle, an Instagram-famous leading nail artist.

Natasha was then offered a job by the brand as a video content creator.
Speaking about her designs, she said: “Inspiration comes from everywhere. There is no real limit to what can be created.”
