Tom Cruise, the man known for doing impossible stunts for his beloved movies, did not get enough recognition for his dedication. That’s what his co-star Miles Teller feels anyways since he felt that Cruise deserved an Oscar for Top Gun: Maverick which he didn’t get.
During an interview, the actor revealed that it was the Mission: Impossible actor that truly deserved the Oscar for his utmost dedication. Miles Teller stated that the actor was essentially snubbed by the Oscars.

The 2022 movie Top Gun: Maverick saw Tom Cruise reprising his iconic role as Pete Mitchell and joining for the ride was Miles Teller as Bradley Bradshaw. Being one of the most iconic movies, the sequel was hailed as one of the finest movies of all time as many people stayed in hope that the movie would get several Oscars.

The result was however complete opposite as Everything Everywhere All At Once essentially won every major Oscar during the event. After the whole ordeal, Miles Teller stated that although the movie did deserve an Oscar, no one deserved it as much as his co-star and legendary actor Tom Cruise.
“100 Percent [snubbed]. And I’m not saying whoever got nominated didn’t deserve to get nominated. But when you think about everything that he’s doing in that film. What I’ve said when I’ve been talking about Tom’s performance in this film, we give actors so much credit in movies for performing skills, for playing instruments or singing or gaining weight and losing weight.”
The War Dogs actor further continued that people did not realize the dedication that Cruise put into his films and the true potential of the actor.
“The skills that Tom is putting on display in Top Gun and so many of his movies, that’s a product of thousands of hours practice. I think we don’t realize how much work and effort goes into that. I think a lot of time we associate performances on screen with effort. We like to applaud effort. Tom does it so seamlessly you don’t realize.”
The actor is 100% right since Tom Cruise has been risking his life for a long time for the various dangerous stunts that are featured in his movies. After Cruise’s whole Scientology fiasco, a director rose up and stated that the veteran actor has changed and he is “not the kind of ambassador for Scientology that he used to be”.

Alex Gibney, the American filmmaker who created the documentary Going Clear talked about what working with the Church of Scientology looks like. The filmmaker spoke that Cruise took a step away from Scientology and that he is not the same man that he was all those years back.
“I think he took a step away, so he’s not the kind of ambassador for Scientology that he used to be — not like he was back in the day when he was making [2005 blockbuster]War of the Worlds and had a Scientology tent on the set. Being a star is super important to him. I agree, there hasn’t been any reckoning for him. It’s surprised me.”
With the Oscar snubbed away from him, Tom Cruise’s recent magnum opus Top Gun: Maverick is available to stream on Paramount+ in the U.S.
