One of the league’s top defenders is the forward for the Golden State Warriors, Draymond Green. He is particularly well-known for his ability to ratchet up the physicality of the game and his willingness to engage in game-within-game play with the umpires.
Even though Draymond Green often gets away with things that would get other players ejected, the former DPOY is clearly still unhappy with the way he is officiated. In fact recently, Green took to Twitter to express his discontent with the referees’ treatment of him.

Though it is true that sometimes referees seem to target Draymond Green, there are definitely a lot of calls that go his way as well. The officials generally try to do the best job that they can, and some human error is to be expected.
This year, Draymond Green is averaging 8.4 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 6.9 APG for the Golden State Warriors. He has been as good as ever defensively, and his playing at a high level will be key for them if they are to make a deep run this year.
Fred Van Vleet Previously Blasted Official Ben Taylor
Complaints from players toward the referees have been frequent this season, and Draymond Green is far from the only player to express discontent. In fact, previously, Fred VanVleet went on a viral rant that was directed at referee Ben Taylor.
“Most of the refs are trying hard. I like a lot of the refs, they’re trying hard, they’re pretty fair, and communicate well”, he said. “And then you got the other ones who just want to be dicks and just kind of f** up the game.”
“I’ll take a fine. I don’t really care. I thought Ben Taylor was f**king terrible today. On most nights, out of the 3, there’s 1 or 2 that just f**k the game up. it’s been like that a couple of games in a row.”
It is clear that Fred VanVleet had no qualms about losing some of his money to draw attention to the way that the Raptors were officiated. It is clear that his ire was not directed to all referees, but rather the ones he believes “f**k the game up”.
It remains to be seen if the league will address the increasing concerns about the referees. Hopefully, some sort of changes happen, but it seems unlikely given the fact that the league deals with complaints every year, and things still generally remain as is.
