The scene of a hippo being brutally attacked by a lion group was filmed by tourist Dean Grant in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Reporting the incident, Grant said that early that morning, shortly after the park opened, his group of tourists set out, driving along the river to the west bank to enjoy the scenery.
As this was their first time setting foot in the wilds of Africa, the group was extremely excited, mixed with excitement because they didn’t know what to expect in the adventure.
Not waiting too long, after walking a short distance, the group came across a large hippo leisurely in the middle of the road, followed by a herd of predatory lions including 8 females and several the little boy followed.
Suddenly, a lioness rushed to attack the hippo, using her teeth and claws to tear repeatedly at the back of the prey. In pain from the attack, the hippo rage vented on a nearby Land Rover, scaring the driver away.
However, the lions did not falter at the hippo’s move, they continuously launched attacks like storms, tearing their prey.
With no other choice, the old hippo tried to use its last breaths to move towards the roadside ditch and then succumbed to the power of the ferocious lions.
