Brazilian stopper in £35million deal is covered in striking tattoos all over his body
EDERSON confirmed his £35million switch to Manchester City today on a five-year deal, and will likely become the number one at the Etihad.
The Benfica goalkeeper was only Benfica’s No1 for 14 months but starred in the club’s double-winning season, conceding just 18 goals in 34 league games.
Alongside his impressive goalkeeping record is his huge tattoo collection, the Brazilian being inked from neck right down to his shin.
And they have various meanings, from his religious Christian background, his footballing exploits and his family back in Brazil.
Starting on his neck, the 23-year-old has a striking skull around his Adam’s apple which looks like it is being crushed by a delicate rose around beneath his ear.
On his right arm, he has three female faces with black hair all on top of each other, with an indecipherable name near his elbow just above a cross – leading to a forearm sleeve right onto his hand.
His left arm has a sleeve on just his forearm, mainly of patterns – and currently on his left bicept is another name with what looks like a crown on top.
Angel wings adorn Ederson’s back, while his chest gives the clearest indication of his Christian belief -the slogan “I belong to Jesus.
And beneath that are Christ’s hands outstretched with a dove in between right across his chest – a popular Christian motif.
On Ederson’s upper left thigh is a skull with hearts for eyes and a nose, with wings and a pocket watch – his shorts normally obscure it, but he shared an Instagram post recently of it being inked.
And on his shin he has an image of the Portuguese league trophy adorned with Benfica’s crest and the number 35 – as last year they won it for the 35th time before winning a 36th this season.
In Instagram posts it is clear that his wife of three years is currently pregnant – and she too has tattoos.
