Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford were teammates for two seasons at Man Utd, and the England international said he “learned a lot” from the seasoned attacker.
Man Utd star Marcus Rashford has revealed he “learnt a lot” from Zlatan Ibrahimovic during the Swede’s time at Old Trafford.
Ibrahimovic spent two seasons with United, linking up with former boss Jose Mourinho and helping the Red Devils win the Europa League and the League Cup.
In a Q&A on Twitter, Rashford was asked who the best player he has played alongside is and the England international named Wayne Rooney, before also admitting that he also “learnt a lot” from Ibrahimovic.
Rashford has previously stated that playing alongside Ibrahimovic was key to his development, telling the UTD Podcast: “I played with Zlatan and it was just his mentality was beyond anything I’d ever played with before.
“He didn’t care what anyone would say or what anyone was saying about him. In terms of mentality, he was key to my development.
“If you remember that time when Jose was there and, as someone who’d played under him before, he [Ibrahimovic] knew you had to be a certain way to survive under him, and I think that was good.
“Do you know what? It was tough but, in five or six years’ time, I’ll look back to it and they’re the moments that give you that mental toughness and make you an all-round player.
“I think I’ve improved a lot and a lot of it is down to those two years under Jose. We had ups and downs but, when I look back on it, it was a tough period, but it made me a better player.”
Speaking in 2019, Ibrahimovic told the Mirror : “Rashford is the future of Man Utd. In the beginning, I saw him more as an individual – now he is playing more for the collective. He is using his quality more for the team, not for himself only.
“He has big potential and a big future with United and the special thing is that he comes from the academy. I think he has no limits.”
