The Kuusiranta is an authentic log cabin 50 kilometers to the north of Kajaani and 13 kilometers to the west of Paltamo municipality center, lake Oulujarvi (Paltaselka) in Finland. The log cabin is next to a shallow beach with small rocks on the bottom, with a pier, a rowing boat, motorboat with a 9.8 horsepower outboard which can be rented from the owner. Boats and pier can be used till the end of October. The small log cabin was built-in 1995. The cabin has a living room with a sofa bed, a kitchen, an alcove with a built-in bed, and a covered porch.
The cabin has a separate sauna with a steam room, dressing area, and porch. Water to the sauna can be pumped by a pump located on the porch. Water can be heated in a tank connected to a wood-burning sauna stove. The log cabin has a composting toilet. There is also a lean-to shelter and campfire site on the property. The log cabin has a covered front porch. Features of the log cabin include electric lighting with solar panel, stove, and no waterpipe (water must be carried from the lake or well), you will want to note that you will need to bring your drinking water, no shower, wood-heated lakeside sauna, outhouse, liquid gas hob (no oven), LPG fridge, TV, radio, gas grill, lean-to and campfire, single cottage, rowing boat, and an outboard motor for rent.
You’ll want to note that the trees on the plot and the surrounding forest have been cut down during the winter of 2022, so the landscape is different than in the pictures. The log cabin is not preheated before the reservation begins. Guests must bring their bed linen and towels (not available for rent). There is a sink located in the log cabin’s kitchen. The cabin has two stoves, one in the living room and one in the kitchen. Solar panels provide electricity for lighting, TV, and wall outlet. Kuusiranta is located in a sunny location by the wide lake Oulujarvi (Paltaselka). The log cabin has beautiful lake views. The log cabin is located in a quiet location, with no visual contact with the neighbors.
During your vacation stay, there is plenty to do. Fishing in Lake Oulujarvi is permitted with a fisheries management fee. Fish species in the lake include pike, perch, pike perch, and whitefish. With Finnish Forest Administration’s (Metsahallitus) angling permit for Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu, you can fish using fly or lure in the state-owned water areas in Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu. The permit area contains approximately 80,000 hectares of lake and pond waters and over 600 kilometers of river and stream waters. Hunting small game hunting area on state-owned lands, Paltamo 5601.
Kainuu is one of the 19 regions of Finland. Kainuu borders the regions of North Ostrobothnia, North Savo, and North Karelia. In the east, it also borders Russia. Culturally Kainuu is part of a larger Eastern-Finnish cultural heritage. The dialect of Kainuu resembles Savonian and Karelian dialects.
