Center-back Harry Maguire believes that coach Erik ten Hag has a different way of working than the previous strategists he has worked with.
“He has different ideas. In this season, the coach has set high standards for the team in all areas. He communicates his philosophy of play to the players and wants everyone to improve the style of play. Whether it’s training or an official match, when you miss a pass, the head coach will immediately intervene,” Maguire shared on TalkSPORT on February 24.
The former Leicester City player is the current captain of MU but has not contributed much in the recent achievements of the home team. In all competitions from the beginning of the 2022/23 season, Maguire has only played 19 matches. In the last 10 appearances, the English midfielder has only 3 starts. He plays as a backup for the duo Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.
After the victory over Barcelona in the second leg of the Europa League play-off on February 24, while the coaching staff were all happy, Maguire appeared cold when coming down from the bench. Some fans also think that the midfielder in 1993 is not happy.
Sharing before the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle on February 26, Maguire said: “It’s an honor to be captain of this club. My dream is to own my first title at MU. The upcoming match very important”.
Maguire has not won a trophy since turning professional in 2011 with Sheffield United. His best achievement is runner-up at EURO 2020 with England and second in Europa League 2020/21 in MU shirt.
The contract with Maguire with MU is still valid until 2025. Daily Mail thinks that the Old Trafford team accepts losses to liquidate the former Leicester star. “Red Devils” bought Maguire in the summer of 2019 for a fee of £ 80 million and can now sell him for £ 40 million.
