Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) experienced an extremely emotional match when they won a dramatic 4-3 victory over Lille. Lionel Messi shined with a super free kick in 90+5 injury time.
Before the 24th round of Ligue 1, PSG disappointed when they lost 3 consecutive matches in all competitions. That’s why coach Christophe Galtier was determined to win when he launched the trio of stars Messi, Neymar and Mbappe to start the game from the very beginning.
The home field advantage along with the strongest force in hand helped the Parc des Princes home team attack and press the opponent from the very beginning of the match. However, Lille proves why they are ranked 6th on the rankings when playing extremely fast counter-attacks and only the excellence of goalkeeper Donnarumma does not make PSG conceded first.
In the 11th minute, PSG soon found the opening goal with Mbappe’s excellence. The French striker, despite being accompanied by two defenders in the penalty area, still escaped the grip to finish in the penalty area to hit the visitors’ net.
The goal helps PSG have an easier game. Only 6 minutes later, the PSG players had a bounce like a practice kick for Neymar to easily put the ball into an empty net, doubling the gap.
After 2 goals, Lille still worked hard to attack and they found a goal to shorten the score in the 24th minute. Andre Gomes hung the ball into the penalty area, Diakite turned up to hit a dangerous header to knock down goalkeeper Donnarumma. The remaining minutes of the first half, the two teams did not have any more goals.
At the beginning of the second half, PSG suffered a great loss when Neymar suffered a serious injury and could not continue playing. In the 56th minute, Lille was awarded a penalty after Marco Verratti’s shirt pulling situation with the away team player. On the 11m mark, David fooled goalkeeper Donnarumma to bring the match back to the starting line.
In the 69th minute, the visitors even took the lead 3-2 thanks to Bamba’s work. From a teammate’s long pass from the middle of the field, the French striker escaped the offside trap and hit a very strong finish, not giving goalkeeper Donnarumma a chance to stop.
Drama pushed to the climax in the last minutes. In the 87th minute, Mbappe leaned over to finish in the penalty area, equalizing 3-3 for PSG. It was thought that the two teams had to split the points, but in the 5th minute of injury time, Messi hit a classy free-kick to set a suffocating 4-3 upstream victory for PSG.
With this result, PSG ended a 3-game losing streak. The French capital team consolidated the top of the Ligue 1 table with 57 points after 24 matches.
