Forgotten Revenge Thriller Starring Dwayne Johnson Is Suddenly Pacing Up the Streaming Charts

After just 8 years of plying his trade in WWE, Dwayne Johnson left to try his luck in Hollywood. Talking about his most popular films, Jumanji, Red Notice, and Black Adam come first in our minds. However, one forgotten thriller of the former world champion is now drifting up the streaming charts.

This forgotten Dwayne Johnson movie released in 2010

In 2010, The Rock started in a film called Faster. It was a revenge thriller that witnessed the multi-time champion in a lead role. The movie directed by George Tillman Jr. also saw Billy Bob Thornton in a pivotal role. The production of the film commenced in 2009 and it hit theaters on November 24, 2010.

Now, according to Flix Patrol, the forgotten Dwayne Johnson thriller has witnessed a surprise jump in Paramount Plus’s top-ten movies. It recently gained 14 points and currently sits at number 4 on the list. The number one spot, though, belongs to Tom Cruise starrer Top Gun: Maverick.

The plot of the movie revolved around a man named Cullen (played by Dwayne Johnson) who is on a mission to seek revenge against the people who betrayed him.

He faces a few obstacles on his journey in the form of two detectives and a hitman who is hired to track him down. The film gathers pace after a gunfight between the Rock and the hitman in which the former manages to flee. The events that transpire next form the rest of the movie.

Faster was declared a financial flop in 2010

The movie left the audiences divided with its mixed reviews. The case was no different for the critics. However, the film did perform decently on popular sites, showing audience reviews. It has a 52 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes while the IMDb viewers’ ratings go up to a commendable 3.8 out of 5.

As far as its box office collections are concerned, the film did not live up to its expectations. Made with a budget of $24 million, Faster only bagged $35.6 million in worldwide collections. As a result, the film emerged as a financial flop. It is also to be noted that the George Tillman Jr. directorial is one of the lowest-grossing Dwayne Johnson projects ever.

Though the movie might not be on top of a Hollywood buff’s watchlist, it can be a good option for a lazy Sunday. After all, we can best judge a movie after we have actually seen it.
